Winnie Simmons is the lead study coordinator and site manager at C.O.R.E Inc. She has worked alongside Dr. Vollmer for over 4 years, helping facilitate over 20 research studies at the clinic. Winnie is a Shelby, NC native who attended and graduated from North Carolina State University. There she studied music theory and played harp in the local Raleigh symphony. 

After graduating, Winnie moved back to Shelby where she linked up with Dr. Vollmer, who sparked a professional career in research. She loves the fast-paced nature of clinical research and deciphering new study protocols as they come across her desk. Her favorite part of her job is getting to work day-in and day-out with such a power team to help people in the future!  

In her spare time, Winnie enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband and two dogs when the journey allows. Winnie also enjoys traveling to new countries and learning about the different cultures, cuisines, and geography. If you see Winnie in the clinic, feel free to ask her about her travels and if you love cute animals she’d be more than happy to share a photo of her fur babies. She is also an avid runner – so chances are, if you visit C.O.R.E – you may see her sprint by on her lunch break!
